Recruitment

"Be All That You Can Be" Be a part of the NAIT Athletics Tradition of Excellence

Vision of NAIT Athletics

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology Athletics Program is committed to recruiting the best athletes possible to our programs and to providing a supportive atmosphere in which our student-athletes can achieve both academic and athletic success.

Get in the Game

To be successful in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference, NAIT coaches are constantly looking to improve their talent base by recruiting on a local, provincial and inter-provincial basis. Many coaches run high school tournaments, scout extensively and hold ID Camps where potential recruits can check out the program and size themselves up against others. Unfortunately, time and job constraints limit the amount of recruiting time available to our coaches and as such a number of potential recruits are not identified. To assist our coaches in this process, if you are interested in the NAIT Athletic program, recruits are encouraged to make contact with our coaching staff as early as possible. Refer to the staff list for coaches phone numbers or email addresses and initiate contact as soon as possible. Coaches will be able to provide information on ID Camps, scholarships available, as well as registration and tryouts. If you are undecided on your career direction they can refer you to NAIT Career Counselors to assist you.

Scholarships

The NAIT Athletic Program provides over $422,000.00 in annual scholarships and awards that to student-athletes to offset the time and commitment made to intercollegiate athletics. These scholarships and awards are made possible through funding from the provincial government, the Ooks Athletic Association, the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club, the Edmonton Oil Kings Foundation and a number of private donors.

For detailed description of the Athletic Scholarships and awards, check out the NAIT Student Awards Handbook or on the NAIT website: student award and scholarships.

Application Information

The success of NAIT grads in Alberta's booming economy has increased the number of applications annually and competition to get into programs is very competitive. Athletes considering NAIT should contact the appropriate coach, then apply as possible and where requested, be very thorough incompleting a career investigation. The minimum entrance requirements for NAIT programs are listed on the application form. Where technologies are oversubscribed, there is a competitive selection process in which high school grades are used as one measure of selection. Some technologies accept qualified students upon receipt of their application while other programs will hold applications and select successful applicants based on a designated competitive selection process. Complete details of the registration procedure can be found on the NAIT website: www.nait.ca.
