Cerebral Discharge

Well, yet another successful NAIT Open House is behind us! I had a great time this year, aside from the unpleasantness of having to count people as they came in (click, click!) The Photography display was my favorite, I’m looking forward to the sale of prints later this year!

So…I just got back from my first Board of Governors meeting…I think I’m going to have a great time! We got a tour of some of the upgrades NAIT has received over this past summer, and let me tell you, some of it is pretty darned impressive! While I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag on one particular room, I can tell you that NAIT’s commitment to the apprenticeship program is evident by our increase in capacity this year for our Electricians. Also, the HVAC facility has been completely renovated, and I must say it looks great! I can hardly wait to tell you about the most exciting addition, I’ll be sure to let you know once the formal announcement is made, so stay tuned!

Midterms are upon us next week…ALREADY!? It seems as though we just started the year! Oh well, I will be ready…luckily we have a second consecutive long weekend on the horizon, I’m going to do my best to get some studying in. I suspect I might be deluding myself though, as I will be road tripping to KELOWNA for the long weekend! YAY! I can’t wait for some of mom’s home cooking; she makes the BEST pizza and chocolate chip cookies in the whole wide world! I think I’ll be able to talk her into making me some goodies, she’s very proud of my most recent accomplishment…

I’ve been deemed a laureate of the government of Canada’s Millenium Excellence Award…quite a mouthful! I am one of 200 students that have been selected nationwide to receive this award for qualities of leadership, innovation, and academic excellence; I am very honored to have received this distinction, as it is so much more than a financial award (though the money certainly won’t hurt my cause!) For the next two years I will be attending various conferences with fellow laureates, which is going to be a great way to meet people who share the same passion for life as me! My first trip is going to be November 14-16 to Vancouver, I’m very excited!
