Increase your understanding of commercial refrigeration systems! Students will gain a working knowledge of fluorocarbon-based compression refrigeration systems typical to commercial refrigeration installations. The general focus is on basic concepts and theories, system components and overall functionality of the systems. Although students are introduced to some troubleshooting and servicing topics, this course is not intended to provide detailed troubleshooting or servicing training, nor does it involve any numerical calculations or analysis.
Students will begin by learning about basic units and the theory of heat, the refrigeration cycle, and the relationships between the condenser, evaporator and compressor. Examples of additional topics include:
• metering devices
• auxiliary refrigerant flow control devices
• winter operation
