Learn to customize and extend the functionality of the ArcGIS interface using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), the programming environment included with the ArcGIS software. Learn fundamental VBA programming techniques and about Visual Basic’s forms, branching and looping. The second half of the course focuses on ArcObjects, ArcObjects model diagrams and programming of some common, useful tasks in ArcMap not available with the native package. You’ll learn how to:
• manage different data sources (download, conversion, alignment, metadata)
• create portable projects to pass on to others
• load and use sample scripts, extensions and the Avenue Programming Language for customization
• perform advanced theme classification and tabular analysis
• complete a GIS analysis project of your choice and present it to the class using your newly acquired skills
Recommended: CCTG230 ArcGIS Level II, equivalent courses or practical experience.
