CRP322 Introduction to Concrete Flatwork

Learn to place and finish concrete flatwork with confidence! Concrete workers, trades people and do-it-yourself homeowners will all benefit from this course. Whether you're tackling a sidewalk, patio or other project, this course will give you the practical skills you need to do the job right. In a shop setting, you will first study the theory of concrete design, placement, and finishing. Then, you will demonstrate your skills by working on a project such as a sidewalk or small patio.

Other study topics include formwork, subgrade, reinforcement and curing concrete. In addition, you will learn about:

• design mix and ordering concrete

• types of concrete and admixtures

• cold/hot weather placement

• controlling cracks

• troubleshooting potential problems

Required: Safety glasses and tape measure. Safety boots and rubber backed gloves are recommended.
