CRP325 Concrete Finishes

Explore the unlimited world of decorative concrete, where imagination and proper technique will beautify any concrete slab. Students will learn a variety of techniques that produce different appearances and develop the skills necessary to place and finish decorative concrete. With a focus of hands-on training in a shop setting, students engage in authentic project work.

Topics include stamping, exposed aggregate finishes, and concrete stenciling. Emphasis is placed on subgrade preparation, mix design, admixtures, stamping, stenciling and sealing.

Additional study topics include:

• texturing concrete

• integral colors

• color hardeners

• liquid vs. powder release

• estimating

• finishing techniques

• survey of tools

• types of sealer and application
