CTS30 CTS Summer Institute Photography/Video

The Photographic Component of this course (3 days) will include:

• An overview of digital photography and digital SLR operation (intermediate level), including:

• a thorough understanding of exposure mode choices;

• technical and aesthetic use of depth of field;

• technical and aesthetic control of motion (stopping action and intentional blur)

• use of different lenses, for practical and aesthetic reasons.

• Image processing/workflow issues related to digital imaging

• An emphasis on lighting for digital photography, including elements of

• natural light;

• use of portable/strobist flash;

• studio lighting involving multiple light sources; and

• lighting control applicable to portrait and / or still life situations.

• Photojournalism / event coverage appropriate to school situations.

• Compositional information and theme/assignment ideas suitable for classroom use.

The Video Content will include (2 Days)

Video Production in Final Cut Pro doing:

• Scripting

• Writing

• Movie Making

Students may apply for a Tuition Grant to a maximum of $400.00 at http://www.carcpd.ab.ca/CTS_PD/index.html

Prerequisite: Bachelor of Education Degree and currently teaching CTS. Students must supply their own digital SLR camera and know its basic operation.
