ELT43 Electronics - Semiconductor

If you have some basic electrical or electronics knowledge and you are interested in learning more about electronics, this is the course for you! Students will focus on solid state electronics as related to industrial electronic controls. Instruction time will be equally divided between the classroom and the laboratory. A wide range of topics will be addressed, such as basic semiconductor theory, diode and transistor characteristics, and special semi-conductor devices. Examples of topics include:

• power supplies and regulators

• amplifiers

• oscillators

• unijunction transistors (UJTs) and programmable unijunction transistors (PUTs)

• SCRs and DC motor speed controls

• triacs and diacs

• op-amps and applications

Prerequisite: ELT40 or equivalent.
