The demand of Emergency Medical Services practitioners in Alberta is on the rise. Emergency Medical Responders are increasingly in demand in industry, police and fire services. An essential component of the Canadian emergency medical system, the Emergency Medical Responder may be the sole provider of emergency medical care in rural and remote areas.
As an Emergency Medical Responder, yours will be an important role, responsible for initial scene survey, patient stabilization, trauma and medical patient care, pharmacology, automated external defibrillator (AED) administration and oxygen therapy. You’ll work collaboratively with physicians, paramedics, fire services and search and rescue.
NAIT’s EMR training provides an entry point into the EMS field or can be a rewarding career on its own. Theoretical components of the course are complemented by practical hands-on training.
The EMR program is offered via WebCT in a classroom setting.
