ETC141 Digital Fundamentals

This lab-lecture course introduces the principles, techniques and conventions of digital electronics with the objective of providing a foundation for future digital and computer courses. Basic gates are introduced in the context of their application in, for example, Decoding, Encoding, Multiplexing and Programmable Logic Devices. Following an introduction to Sequential Circuits, such as Flip-Flops and Registers; the Programmable Logic device (PLD) is examined in detail. The course then focuses on the implementation of Small and Medium scale logic, as well as State Machines using PLDs. Lab activities are used to reinforce each important concept including the programming of the PALCE22V10, PLD.
