To function as a successful dental assistant you will need to perfect a number of dental procedures. The procedures you’ll regularly encounter include application and removal of matrices and wedges, application of pit and fissure sealants, removal of surgical sutures, application of bases and liners, application of desensitizing agents and application of topical anesthetic. After receiving theory and instruction you’ll demonstrate your technique in a clinical situation.
Prerequisites: Completion of Term 1 (IDA10), Term 2 (IDA20) and Practical Evaluation (IDA30) or equivalent, Application and Removal of Dental Dam(IDA50) and Preventive Patient Care Procedures (IDA52) course.
