Kaizen is a Japanese word meaning “improvements." In the lean management context, it's about achieving improvements without spending much money, by using common sense and by involving everyone, including managers and workers. Kaizen is an ongoing, never-ending improvement process. Students will explore and discuss Kaizen principles, as compared to innovation. Examples of additional study topics include:
• product-quality-routing analysis (PQR)
• product demand patterns and process flexibility
• Pareto diagram
• purpose of value stream mapping
