Course Overview

In a machine shop a machinist uses cutting tools to make precision parts. Upon successful completion of this introductory course, students will be able to describe and demonstrate various machine shop skills.

This course will provide students with the manual machining skills needed to use the hand tools in the machine shop for cutting, layout, and precision/non-precision measuring. Successful students will be able to describe and demonstrate the use of drilling, mill-drill operations, and offhand grinding.

MACH101 can be used with MACH105 as a prerequisite for the NAIT Gunsmithing course series. This course is the first of four belonging to the Machine Shop Certificate Series.
