MACH170 - Milling Machine Standard Operating Procedure for University of Alberta Students

This course is designed to help prepare University of Alberta students to use the machine shop in the Engineering Garage makerspace in a mentor-supervised environment. Introductory topics covered will include basic safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), and hazard assessments. From there, students will receive an entry-level overview of dimensional measurement, milling machine nomenclature, cutting conditions, machine operations, and materials. A demonstration of gear cutting will also be included.
