This course is an extension of MEC 231 (Stress Analysis). The concept of fatigue strength is introduced to facilitate design of components under cyclic loading. Design of machine elements such as shafts, keys, and bolted and welded connections are discussed. Catalog selection of belt and chain drives and bearings is also covered.
