Course Overview

This professional development course is for people already working as Medical Laboratory Assistants, Medical Laboratory Technologists, and Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists. This course enhances the knowledge that the learner has gained in their work experience, provides a review of previously studied concepts, and adds new supplementary learning objectives.

Improve your patient care with an increased attention to quality control processes and assurances. Analysis of current processes will detail areas that can be improved to positively affect quality control.

The skills gained in this course will provide insight into the analysis of quality assurance and quality control processes as they relate to patient care.

This is a self-directed, independent study course completed at your own pace. To enroll, you must be a current practicing MLA, MLT or CLXT.

  • Remote On-Demand Delivery: Where: Online anytime. When: No set class meetings. Coursework is accessed on-demand and online. While there are no set class meetings, there may be set due dates and deadlines for some activities. Students may interact with peers through virtual tools.
  • Remote Independent: Where: Online anytime. When: No set class meetings. Coursework is accessed on-demand and online, with no instructor support. While students choose when to do coursework, there may be set due dates and deadlines. 
  • Work Placement: Where: In-person meetings. When: Work is scheduled at a specific time for students to attend. Onsite work integrated learning. Location at a worksite.
