MT810 Basic Metallurgy II

This course provides an in depth study of steel and its heat treatment including the following topics: types of steel and common classification systems, properties and microstructures, heat treating principles, hardenability, surface hardening, and effects of alloying. In addition, the metallurgy of cast irons and non-ferrous materials will be studied. MT 800 is a prerequisite for MT810. The same textbook is used for both courses.
