As an optician, not only do you make eyeglasses, you have to analyze and interpret those you make and those made by others. To this end, you need to be able to determine lens power at any meridian, calculate the prismatic effect of a lens that has not been properly centered, and compare any pair of eyeglasses to the standards of the ophthalmic dispensing industry.
Prerequisite: Candidate must be a licensed optician or be a graduate of an Opticianry program.
