OHSD1104 - Professional Practices and Ethics
This dual-focused course examines the ethical behaviours associated with the practice of Occupational Health and Safety and the process of entering that practice. Ethical behaviour is an essential element of any OHS professional practice. This course will explore the many challenges and obligations that the professional must exhibit to organizations, fellow professionals, employers, and the general public. The legal and ethical consequences of errors and omissions, duly diligent behaviour, and professional codes of conduct will be covered in depth. Professionals from different facets of OHS will provide their perspectives about the profession, which may occur during brown-bag lunches. In addition, students will prepare for their entrance into the OHS profession through their co-op positions. They will prepare their tailored resume and cover letter, prepare for an interview, and complete job searches, culminating in a mock interview process at the end of the semester.
This course is available to students in the Occupational Health and Safety program.
