PHT51 Photography - Portraiture

There is a definite art to taking good portraits! Students will learn the basic skills required for effective photographic portraiture. Topics covered include:

• Posing of individuals, couples and groups

• Studio lighting techniques

• Portraiture on location (indoors or outdoors)

• Formal and informal portraiture

• Creation of symbolic, illustrative portraits

Bring your digital camera (DSLR) to each class. A USB flash drive would be handy to bring digital photo assignments to class for viewing.

Prerequisite: Students should have a good knowledge of their camera operation before enrolling. PHT10 Taking Control of Your Camera, or a similar course, would provide a good base of knowledge prior to taking this course.
