WLD15 Beginners Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) "STICK"

Learn all about "STICK" welding. Students will learn the basics of shielded metal arc welding. A range of lecture topics will be addressed, including types of arc welding machines, machine settings, care and maintenance, mild steel electrodes, joint preparation weld faults, and safety.

Students will get shop practice time in the following areas: butt welding, flat position, lap welding, flat, overhead, vertical, and arc-air gouging.

This course is designed as a career exploratory course, and no personal project work is allowed.

Prerequisite: Grade 9 or equivalent.
