Course Overview

It seems that new websites with mapping and GIS functionality are springing up every day. Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to use open source software to build a GIS website.

Graduates of this course will be able to build a GIS website that goes beyond mere web mapping. You will start with downloading all software pieces, installing, setting up, and then configuring the software. Using the Apache web browser you will be able to describe services that can be disseminated over the web, detail how the services are exposed to client applications, and explain the client-side application that can consume the web mapping/GIS services.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to program two of the most popular web mapping applications in use today: ArcGIS Server JavaScript API, and KML files with Google Earth.

Prior to enrolling in this course, it is recommended that you complete CCTO101, Windows Desktop Operating System, or equivalent courses, or possess practical experience.
