CSTN1242 - Building Science
This course examines the specific materials and systems of assembly that enclose a building to provide and maintain the desired interior exterior separation. Included in this course are a review of the elements of wall, door and window systems, floor systems, and roof systems as used in commercial and residential construction. The course will evaluate environments and recommend preventive remedial action. The course will discuss mold remediation as an emerging issue as a result of tighter building envelopes. Also included in this course is an introduction of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design system (LEED) and like systems used in the design and construction industry.
This course is available to students in the Construction Engineering Technology program. Prerequisites: CSTN1131, CSTN1132.
