GEOL2440 - Advanced Exploration Geophysics
This course elaborates on the theoretical aspects of the magnetic and electrical geophysical methods introduced in GEOL 2340. The unit on seismic investigations will focus on the use of reflection seismic surveys to determine subsurface features. The concepts of normal moveout, statics, and migration will be introduced. In addition, a unit on gravity methods of investigation will explore the use and interpretation of gravity data as well as the processing and presentation of that data. Further studies of electromagnetic surveys will also be included.
This course is available to students in the Geological Technology program with a Plan in Exploration and that has completed Level 1. Prerequisites: GEOL2340.
