NANO2460 - Biological Applications in Nanotechnology
This course examines the employment of biochemistry and molecular biology for nano-specific applications and the use of non-biological nanotechnology for modifying living systems. The use of biological structures for the production of 3D scaffolds (i.e. DNA origami), the synthesis of integrated bio-sensing devices (i.e. pharmacy on a chip), and the creation of novel life-forms will be discussed. Finally, the possible impact of fugitive nanotechnology wastes on the environment will also be examined.
This course is available to students in the Nanotechnology Systems program. Prerequisite: BIOL1260.
