Alumni, Retired Staff, Visitors, & TAL Card Holders


Alumni

The Library invites all NAIT graduates to borrow materials. You must first contact the  Alumni Relations Office  who will provide you with a letter verifying your alumni status.  Bring this letter to the Library Lending Service desk, where you will be issued an Alumni Library Card for a $10.00 non-refundable annual fee (cash only). Your card will be valid for one year from the date of issue and subsequent cards can be renewed directly at the Lending Services desk.  Your Alumni Library Card provides the following borrowing privileges:

Please note that alumni library card holders cannot access online resources from off campus, nor can they access any resources whose licenses restrict use to current NAIT students and staff only.

Retired Staff

Retired staff members are welcome to use the Library.  Please come to the Library Lending Services Desk to register and discover what the Library can do for you.

Visitors

Members of the public are welcome to use books and journals in the Library. If you wish to borrow, you must get a TAL (The Alberta Library) card from a participating library you belong to, before visiting NAIT's Library.

Use of the library’s computers is restricted. Visitors to the Library may use the computers to access information regarding NAIT's programs and courses and to access databases specifically funded by the Alberta Government for their use (Lois Hole Campus Alberta Digital Library).

TAL Borrowers from Other Libraries

NAIT Library is a member of The Alberta Library (TAL) and accepts TAL borrower cards issued by other libraries.

TAL borrowers coming to NAIT's Library from other libraries should be aware that we restrict access to some of our material. We DO NOT loan the following to TAL borrowers:

  • All materials designated as Archival, Special Collections, Maps, Reference, Course Reserves, and Periodicals
  • Historical (specifically designated titles)

A TAL borrower’s card does not entitle the holder to other library privileges such as the use of computers, which is restricted. Library visitors may use the computers to access information regarding NAIT's programs and courses and to access databases specifically funded by the Alberta Government for their use (Lois Hole Campus Alberta Digital Library).
