Enbridge joins forces with NAIT to tackle the skilled labour crisis
Enbridge has invested $500,000 to create The Enbridge Prime Mover and Fluid Systems Lab at NAIT, a critical part of ensuring current and relevant fluid system training for students.
"Enbridge has a long-standing relationship with NAIT, both as a contributor to the growth of the institution, as well as through the participation of our current and prospective employees in NAIT's high quality skills and trades training," said Patrick D. Daniel, Enbridge, Inc. President and CEO. "Our support will help young people build a career and bring NAIT, Enbridge and industry in general closer to achieving their goals and addressing critical shortfalls in skilled workers."
The Enbridge Prime Mover and Fluid Systems Lab will be located in the NAIT Petro-Canada Centre for Millwright Technology, which opens in September. The Centre will accommodate over 700 millwright apprentices and 48 millwright technologists, an increase of 40 per cent from current training capacity.
"Enbridge's donation is a prime example of the support NAIT is receiving from business and industry," said President and CEO Dr. Sam Shaw. "Industry knows first hand the skilled labour shortage has hit a crisis level and recognizes NAIT's role in resolving it."
