Supervisory Development Specialization
We are excited to launch our new specialization in Supervisory Development. Previously, this ran as a stand-alone certificate in Supervisory Development. The Supervisory Development core group of courses is now a specialization within our Business Fundamentals Certificate. This change will allow students to access a wider variety of courses. Students can also take further specializations within the Business Fundamentals program.
The program and course content was completely redeveloped for the 2014/2015 academic year based on input from entrepreneurs and industry experts. Those industry experts helped us to determine the outcomes of the program to ensure that graduates of the program will be able to:
- Communicate effectively using appropriate strategies
- Implement a personal development plan specific to a supervisory role
- Select and implement human resource practices in supervisory roles
- Develop leadership capacity
The transition from excellent performer to competent supervisor demands a new set of skills. The Supervisory Development Specialization is a core group of courses for front-line supervisors, managers and team leaders who need practical skills for dealing with day-to-day management challenges. The program is for both entry-level supervisors as well as more experienced managers seeking to update themselves on current management principles and techniques.
Are you looking to develop your supervisory skills in an interactive learning environment that suits your schedule? The Supervisory Development Specialization invites participants to explore and develop their leadership potential in order to manage projects and supervise staff on a day to day basis. Discover management skills, human resources practices and communication techniques essential to job growth and success.
NAIT’s Business Fundamentals Certificate with a specialization in Supervisory Development will be awarded upon successful completion of the core courses plus any course modules that equal a minimum of 150 hours. Students will design the program that best suits their learning needs. Flexible course options let you choose between evening or weekend classes.
Case studies, simulations, group analysis and discussions will help you develop the practical supervisory skills and knowledge needed to be a better supervisor. The activities are designed to give participants the best opportunities for learning not only what to do but how to do it well.
Instructors are chosen for their ability to provide practical, relevant material acquired through personal education and experience.
The Business Fundamentals Certificate with a Supervisory Development Specialization qualifies you for Blue Seal Certification through Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT).
