College Preparation courses follow the Alberta Learning High School curriculum with the exception of the computer, quality studies, and mathematics courses. College Preparation computer courses have been developed within NAIT, and the mathematics courses follow the former mathematics curriculum for Mathematics 13, 23, 33 and 30. The focus is primarily on grade twelve courses in Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
The College Preparation program is not an accredited high school program. This means that students do not receive Alberta Learning course credits towards an Alberta Learning diploma. Diploma examinations are not required to obtain credit for these courses for entry into programs at NAIT and most other post secondary colleges and technical institutions in Alberta. Students wishing to enter a university should confirm with their desired university to ensure that College Preparation courses are transferable.
Students may select as many courses as they wish, providing they have the required prerequisites. Three courses are generally considered to be a full academic load for a semester.
Registration is online only. Payment for courses must be made in full at the time of registration or the course(s) will be dropped.
It is highly recommended that prospective students consult with the Academic Advisor in Academic Upgrading prior to registration to ensure they have the appropriate prerequisites.
Spring semester courses will be available for registration as of mid February.
