Lean Manufacturing (Lean Enterprise Management)

Overview

Think lean, think world class manufacturing! Lean Manufacturing is an operating strategy that seeks to maximize operational effectiveness by creating value in the eyes of the end customer. The focus is not on a single department, area or process, but on the optimization of the entire value stream – the series of processes beginning with the customer's order and ending with delivery of the finished product. Students will discover how Lean Manufacturing relates to best processes and practices; those which optimize resources and yield the best products in the fastest manner and at the lowest cost.

Sometimes called Just In Time (JIT), World Class or Agile Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing encompasses total quality management, continuous improvement, zero defects, and all other terms used to describe doing things right the first time, and doing it right every time. Students will learn a wide range of skills and techniques that are directly applicable to world class manufacturing.

The project management modules in this program will complement your skills and training in lean enterprise management. Refer to the Project Management Certificate program for details on project management modules.
