Oil and Gas Production Operator
Overview
Energy Safety Canada joined forces with NAIT to develop an Oil and Gas Production Operator (OGPO) program that delivers both online learning and real-world experience.
With extensive input from operators in the field, Energy Safety Canada worked with NAIT to develop a series of new online courses with hands-on practice at their fully operational oil and gas worksite training facility in Nisku.
The program consists of four progressively advancing levels, and is designed to benefit both "green" and experienced workers in production and operations.
The first course of the new program will be offered in mid-October 2018
The Oil and Gas Production Operator program is designed to train professional and technically knowledgeable individuals for careers in production and operations.
The courses provide a through overview of the oil and gas industry and offer applicable skills and knowledge relating to gas processing, instrumentation, measurement, production equipment, and refining.
As students progress through the four levels, they will expand their knowledge and practical skills and develop an academic background relevant to the upstream oil and gas industry.
Certification
Students who successfully complete all four levels of the Oil and Gas Production Operator program are eligible to receive a Continuing Education Certificate. Students must apply for certification by completing a Request for Certification and returning the form to ced_ast@nait.ca.
OGPO500
Commit to receiving the Oil and Gas Production Operator Certificate of Achievement by registering in OGPO500. This option packages the four levels of OGPO into an accelerated format, at a reduced cost over taking each course individually. Please refer to the individual course pages for OGPO100, OGPO200, OGPO300, and OGPO400 for a detailed overview of each course.
Delivery Options
Each course is delivered in a self-paced, online format and students have up to six months from the start date to complete each course. Courses are offered in July, September, November, January, March, and May.
Please note: effective July 1, 2018, students will have up to four months from the start date to complete each course.
Course registrations are accepted until one day prior to the start of class.
