The two-year, independent study Contact Lenses Certificate is an advanced practice. As such, the potential student must be a registered optician. In addition to the two years of theory, students complete 4 levels of practicum and 500 hours under direct supervision. Similar to an apprenticeship, the practicum consists of on-the-job training. It is required as part of the program's clinical component.
Looking to the future, you see that you can take your career to a higher level and offer increased value to employees and clients. Enhancing your skills will ensure your career continues to challenge and reward you. A licence to dispense contact lenses will increase your career opportunities in the optical industry, or with ophthalmologists or optometrists.
