Crane & Hoisting Equipment Operator - Boom Truck

Overview

The Boom Truck Operator program offered at NAIT is for Apprentices on Boom Trucks greater than 5 ton capacity and less than 45 ton capacity.  The training includes thirty hours of pre-registration, self-study assignments plus five weeks of attendance at NAIT.

Apprentices will learn through theory instruction and hands-on practice the basic skills needed to be successful journeymen. 

Theory and practical classes concentrate on operating safety practices related to boom trucks.  Included is the proper and safe setup of equipment, load chart reading, mechanics and maintenance as well as safe rigging practices.  Advanced theory includes:  chart reading, new technology, lift planning, advanced rigging  and calculations and multi-crane lifts.
