Machinist

Overview

The Machinist Program at NAIT teaches all aspects of the machinist trade. During the 4 year apprenticeship apprentices will receive a large portion of their training while on the job and the more formal education takes place at NAIT. The training at NAIT places a large emphasis on practical or “hands on” learning as well as classroom delivery. Areas covered could include machining theory, trade math, blueprint reading and CNC machining.

Our modern shops are equipped with both conventional and CNC (computer numeric controlled) machines, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, cylindrical and surface grinders, as well as a bench work area.

Our instructors are all certified journeymen with many years experience in a variety of areas of the trade.
