Business Administration - Marketing

Overview

A career in marketing offers some of the most diverse challenges in the job world. That's why graduates of this program are well prepared to take on many different marketing-related tasks in both small or large businesses. They are able to devise and implement advertising and promotional initiatives, capable of engaging in professional sales, and able to effectively participate in sports marketing, marketing research and service marketing.

Marketing influences many aspects of your life, from your choice of hair salon to the restaurants you dine in and even the television programs you watch.  Marketing is more than selling and advertising. Its strategies include product development, marketing of services, pricing and value creation, supply chain management, and green and social marketing.

The Marketing program in the JR Shaw School of Business at NAIT has been accredited by the Canadian Institute of Marketing. Program graduates have fulfilled the academic requirements for membership in the Canadian Institute of Marketing.

Marketing Students Raise $10,000 for Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation

An evening meeting with Edmonton business leaders was the crowning event of the semester for nineteen students in Keven McGhan’s Advanced Professional Selling course. Students hosted the event following their twelve week fund-raising initiative for the Stollery.  Summing up their experiences in this class, students stated they have a newfound appreciation for professional sales skills.  They also see more clearly how we are all interconnected. Their effort in reaching out to form new relationships benefited not only themselves but also the children and families needing the Stollery hospital.

The Sales Management course is offered to students in the second year sales stream of the marketing program. The stream includes a study of sales communication skills as well as video-taped role-playing exercises.

The success of NAIT’s marketing graduates in the workplace is a tribute to the innovation and dedication of the Marketing program and staff in NAIT’s JR Shaw School of Business.
