Marketing influences many aspects of your life, from your choice of hair salon to the restaurants you dine in and even the television programs you watch. Marketing consultants are continually trying to fulfil customer needs and satisfy consumer needs and wants. Marketing is more than selling and advertising. Its strategies include product development, marketing of services, pricing and value creation, supply chain management, and green and social marketing.
A career in marketing offers some of the most diverse challenges in the job world. That's why graduates of this program are well prepared to take on many different marketing-related tasks in both small or large businesses. They are able to devise and implement advertising and promotional initiatives, capable of engaging in professional sales, and able to effectively participate in sports marketing, marketing research and service marketing.
The common denominator among all business disciplines is the need for people with strong interpersonal skills. Successful business people have discipline and a strong work ethic, and are creative, innovative and ethical.
While good grades are important in this program, commitment to success is paramount. If you work and communicate well with others, are innovative and tenacious, and enjoy working in a dynamic environment, then marketing, and this program, are for you.

Marketing Students Raise $10,000 for Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation
An evening meeting with Edmonton business leaders was the crowning event of the semester for nineteen students in Keven McGhan’s Advanced Professional Selling course. Students hosted the event following their twelve week fund-raising initiative for the Stollery.
Summing up their experiences in this class, students stated they have a newfound appreciation for professional sales skills. They also see more clearly how we are all interconnected. Their effort in reaching out to form new relationships benefited not only themselves but also the children and families needing the Stollery hospital.
The Advanced Professional Selling course is offered to students in the second year sales stream of the marketing program. The stream includes a study of sales communication skills as well as video-taped role-playing exercises.
The success of NAIT’s marketing graduates in the workplace is a tribute to the innovation and dedication of the Marketing program and staff in NAIT’s JR Shaw School of Business.
