Millwork and Carpentry is a dynamic program which prepares graduates for many exciting careers in the woodworking industries, including carpentry and cabinet-making. Current and highly-applicable, the practical and theoretical instruction develops skills while utlizing NAIT's modern, well-equipped wood shops, and high-tech classrooms and computer labs.
During Semester one, basic woodworking skills and related theory are taught. An in-depth knowledge of hand-tool use leads directly to power equipment operation, producing trained graduates with a broad knowledge and skill base required by today's workplace.
In the second semester, students specialize in either the cabinetmaking or carpentry stream. The second semester allows for the development of graduates' self-confidence and additional skill development.
There are many special events and projects to aid in making the transition from NAIT to the job-site: Guest instructors from industry, and a variety of field trips give the students content knowledge and insights to the working environment.
In-house competitions and events allow for friendly competition and challenging projects to be created.
