Optical Sciences - Ophthalmic Assistant
The Ophthalmic Assistant Certificate Course is a six-month course designed to teach new skills and/or upgrade present skills. This non-credit, introductory-level course is intended for those who want to work as Ophthalmic Assistants in a private Ophthalmologist or Optometrist's office, clinic, or hospital.
In this online course, students access course material using the learning platform Moodle. Students must complete 10 outcomes. At the end of each outcome, there is an assessment (quiz), which students submit online. These assessments measure students' understanding of key terms, topics, and learning outcomes.
Student learning is also measured through scheduled, printed midterm and final examinations administered at the NAIT Main Campus in Edmonton, Alberta. Students living further than 175 km away from the Main Campus will write their examinations in a supervised setting closer to home.
