Optical Sciences - Ophthalmic Review Courses
Ophthalmic Review courses serve as a refresher for opticians with previous working knowledge who are returning to the profession or candidates who want to update their skills with a review of major principles and theory in eyeglasses or contact lenses. These are not introductory-level courses.
Ophthalmic Review theory courses, OPSC601 to OPSC615, are accessed online through Moodle, an e-learning system. Students write their final exam online. These courses begin on the first of each month and must be completed within eight (8) weeks of the scheduled start date.
Ophthalmic Review practicum courses, OPSC693 and OPSC694, are done at a student's worksite under the supervision of a qualified preceptor, such as a licensed optician, optometrist or ophthalmologist. These courses are offered each month. Students receive a practicum manual to complete, which must be received by the Optical Sciences Program Office within six (6) months of the start date.
