Bachelor of Applied Business Administration - Finance
This applied degree develops a combination of advanced financial expertise and management skills for careers in the financial services field. Students begin with 2 consecutive academic terms, followed by 2 work experience terms, called Directed Field Studies (DFS). DFS terms are taken via distance education while the student is employed and link academic knowledge with practical employment experience via research papers, critiques and case studies. Applicants must previously have earned a 2-year business diploma to enter this program.
The applied degree allows students to complete all the academic requirements to challenge the Certified Financial Planning designation. Students can take the 5 core curriculum courses of the CFP® designation as part of their course load. DFST4450 allows students to prepare for the FPSC®Level 1 in Financial Planning Examination. DFST4460 incorporates the Capstone Course that has been approved by the Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) as a required step for those pursuing a CFP® designation.
