The Communication Technician program will train you to install, remove and repair personal computers (PCs), local area or wide area networks (LANs and WANs), consumer communication equipment, private branch exchanges (PBXs) and specialized telecommunication equipment such as voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), digital subscriber lines (DSLs) or cable modems.
You will also learn how to maintain and repair various types of wireless LANs, cellular and point-to-point microwave systems, as well as troubleshoot and maintain fibre-optic transmission systems (FOTS), cable and satellite television systems and public / private / virtual networking equipment systems.
All application deadlines, start dates and training schedules are posted on the Tradesecrets website.
Communication technicians have traditionally been employed by large telecommunications and cable companies, as well as smaller companies that install, maintain, sell or lease telecommunications equipment. These smaller companies may subcontract to the larger telecommunications companies or install private communications systems.
