This program will train you to lay out, prepare and assemble structural steel and steel vessels, containers and miscellaneous components. Structural steel and plate fitters fabricate structural components for buildings, bridges and other load-carrying structures, as well as plates for tanks, boilers, pressure vessels and similar products.

Structural steel and plate fitters are employed in manufacturing, as well as in commercial construction and repair shops in the steel fabrication and oil industries. Experienced structural steel and plate fitters may advance to supervisory positions.
