This series of courses, developed and instructed by members of NAIT’s Machining Program, is designed for individuals who wish to develop their gunsmith skills. Elements covered include the basics of accurization, barreling, barrel fitting, and customization of a firearm. Gunsmithing classes appeal to hobbyists, machinists, hunters, and firearm enthusiasts. Students will be contacted prior to the course start with specific information including materials required, as well as transportation and security arrangements.
This series is based on Remington 700 bolt action rifles. Students are required to provide their own barrel blank and action.
Prerequisites: Machine Shop courses MACH101 and MACH105 OR minimum 1st year Machinist Apprentice OR minimum 1st year Millwright Apprentice AND holder of a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL). Applicants must provide a copy of their PAL to NAIT upon registration.
