Student for a Day
What is Student for a Day?
Student for a Day is an opportunity for prospective students to experience what a day in their program of interest feels like. By attending Student for a Day, prospective students have the opportunity to meet with a NAIT advisor, participate in a campus tour to learn about our facilities and services, and attend classes/labs to get a glimpse into their program of interest.
When is Student for a Day offered?
Student for a Day is offered during the fall (September to December) and winter (January to April) semesters, with the exception of December and April as current students are busy with final projects and exams.
Do all programs participate in Student for a Day?
Not all NAIT programs participate in this initiative. A list of participating programs will be posted closer to September, but we encourage you to email us at email@example.com if you’d like to inquire about your program of interest in the meantime.
What is included in Student for a Day?
NAIT has a wide range of programs, and therefore Student for a Day will look different for each program. Typically, Student for a Day visits will include shadowing at least one class or lab from your program of interest. It is also possible to schedule a general advising appointment and/or campus tour during your Student for a Day visit, and you can indicate interest in these activities on the Student for a Day Registration Form.
What information would be covered during a general advising appointment?
NAIT’s Academic Advisors are here to help you explore your program options, guide you in creating a personal education and career plan, and help you determine the pathways to get there. This is done through guided and independent exploratory activities; by asking open-ended questions, considering your interests, values, and goals; and by facilitating informed decision-making to make the best decision for your situation. Our advisors can also help you explore funding options, help you create a budget to meet your needs, as well as provide immigration advising should this be of benefit to you. Our academic advisors are here to provide a holistic student experience, and ensure you understand next steps to guide you on your journey.
Will I get to spend the entire day with a current student?
Will I have a chance to talk to instructors about their industry experience?
What is the minimum age requirement?
Student for a Day is only available for prospective students that are at least 15 years of age.
