Understanding your options
Flexible Educational Pathways
NAIT now offers flexible study options so you can take programs and courses that fit your lifestyle, your pace and your goals. Whether you’re looking to further your career, try something new, or pursue personal interests, we offer a variety of programs and courses to get you started.
Credit Programs & Courses
Credit programs and courses are Degree, Diploma or Certificate offerings that lead to Government of Alberta approved parchments. All students interested in applying for credit programs and courses must apply using the Alberta Post-Secondary Application System (APAS).
Open Studies is a convenient option for students interested in taking courses that are part of Degree, Diploma, or Certificate (credit) programs before applying through the APAS application system. Through Open Studies, you can enroll in day, evening, or online credit courses without being admitted to a program of study.
Non-Credit Programs & Courses
NAIT also offers a wide range of non-credit programs and courses through Continuing Education, intended to provide personal and professional development in a number of interesting and exciting fields. Many courses are offered in the evening or on weekends. These formats are great for students who plan on working and studying at the same time. Enroll directly online or in person.
Eligibility for enrollment is determined by Apprenticeship and Industry Training, Alberta Advanced Education. This means that you must already be a registered apprentice and employed in the trade. If you are eligible, you should submit your application through the Registrar’s office.
