Facilities

NAIT has three campuses in Edmonton and one in St. Albert.

  • Main Campus, centrally located in Edmonton, houses most full-time programs, including business, IT, health sciences, hospitality and engineering technologies. Most Continuing Education programs are also available on Main Campus.
  • Souch Campus in south Edmonton and
  • Patricia Campus in the northwest part of the city focus on apprenticeship training.
  • St. Albert Campus holds Continuing Education courses and various other courses.

World-class training centres

NAIT is home to 9 world-class training centres that provide students with access to the latest equipment and technologies.

  • The NAIT EnCana Centre for Power Engineering Technology on Main Campus includes a digital simulator and a fuel cell lab.
  • The NAIT HP Centre for Information and Communications Technology on Main Campus includes 2 wireless videoconference facilities and an innovation centre.
  • The NAIT Petro-Canada Centre for Millwright Technology on Main Campus includes 7 state-of-the-art labs and 6 smart classrooms.
  • The NAIT Sandvik Coromant Centre for Machinist Technology on Main Campus includes a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) lab, 3 machinist labs and a metrology lab.
  • The NAIT Shell Manufacturing Centre on Main Campus includes 9 labs and 3 smart classrooms.
  • The NAIT Spartan Centre for Instrumentation Technology on Main Campus includes 11 instrumentation labs and a lecture theatre with videoconferencing technology.
  • The NAIT Suncor Energy Centre for Piping Systems Technology is currently located at Patricia Campus. NAIT continues to work with government to fulfil NAIT’s long-term vision for the pipes trade and achieve a much-needed expansion for the centre.
  • The NAIT Waiward Centre for Steel Technologies on Souch Campus includes welding shops with adjacent grinding shops and a fully functional multi-purpose shop.

Learning resources

  • The NAITSA Computer Commons in the NAIT HP Centre provides 24-hour access to high-speed computers and networks. Wireless access is also available from all common areas of Main Campus.
  • The Project Factory provides access to high-end graphics software, scanners and DVD burners. Project Factory staff provide expert advice and assistance in using the technologies needed to complete projects.
  • NAIT has more than 300 laboratories to support student learning.
  • McNally Library provides services to students on all campuses.

Food, Dining & Retail

NAIT offers a wide range of food and dining, as well as retail stores, to serve the needs of students, staff, and the public.

  • Common Market – centrally located on Main Campus, the Common Market emphasizes fresh, healthy cuisine from breakfast to dinner. Meals are available from in-house and franchise operations, such as Starbucks and Pizza Hut.
  • Fresh Express – located at the north end of Main Campus, the Fresh Express showcases a grill area operated by NAIT's Culinary Arts students and a kiosk where Food Services staff prepare hearty entrees and sandwiches.
  • bytes – this facility in NAIT's HP Centre features Tim Hortons coffee and baking, e.terra (food with international flair), and a wide array of grab-and-go items.
  • Chai's – located in the South Learning Centre on Main Campus, Chai's offers a menu with European and eastern flair, including samosas, stromboli, naan bread, unique soups, fresh baking, specialty coffees and a wide variety of loose leaf teas.
  • Bistro! – this cafι in the Engineering Technologies Annex has a broad menu that includes a daily lunch feature, sandwiches, hot and cold beverages, fresh baking, and grab-and-go items.
  • PLATES – situated at Patricia Campus, this location offers a daily lunch feature, breakfast and lunch grill items, fresh baking, coffee, and a grab-and-go area. 
  • elements – located in the Waiward Centre for Steel Technologies, this location offers gourmet burgers, unique grill items, a hearty lunch feature, a selection of grab-and-go items and Starbucks coffee.
  • Embers – this eatery provides a great selection of trendy and hearty food and beverages. Hot meal selections include our signature BBQ pulled pork and Best in the West burgers. Quick choices include grab-and-go soups, sandwiches, salads, confections, coffee, tea, and whipped hot chocolates.
  • The Nest – this lounge and games room, operated by the NAIT Students' Association, has pool tables, video games, a big screen TV and an outdoor patio, as well as great food and drinks.
  • Ernest's – the "jewel in the crown" of the School of Hospitality's Hokanson Centre for Culinary Arts, Ernest's dining room serves up haute cuisine at reasonable prices. Under the guidance of chef instructors, second-year Culinary Arts diploma students combine traditional cookery with contemporary artistry to dish up truly electric cuisine. Students in the Hospitality Management program round out the fine dining experience by providing elegant service emphasizing etiquette and authenticity.
  • Retail Meat Store – students in the Retail Meat Cutting program market a wide variety of meats and cuts at the Retail Meat Store, located in the seating area of the Common Market on Main Campus.
  • Bakery sales – baking program students produce a variety of baked goods that can be purchased in the Common Market and Fresh Express cafeterias on Main Campus. Among the selections are freshly baked bread, pastries, pies, and decorated cakes.
  • NAIT Tech Store – located on the main floor of the NAIT HP Centre, the Tech Store offers a full range of computer hardware and software. Friendly, knowledgeable, non-commissioned staff are ready to answer any questions you may have regarding computers, upgrades, or networking. The Tech Store offers educational pricing on software products, saving students up to 75% off retail prices – all you need is your student ID.

    • Apple/NAIT Webstore – The NAIT Tech Store is an authorized Apple Higher Education Reseller. Educational pricing for NAIT staff and students is now available online. NAIT ID is required, so please have your ID card ready when you access the online store.
  • NAIT Bookstore – in addition to required course materials, the bookstore sells a wide selection of products including NAIT merchandise, postage stamps, stationery, lotto tickets, bus tickets and passes, greeting cards, snacks, and Edmonton Oilers and Rush tickets. There are locations on Main, Patricia, and Souch campuses.
