Course Overview

Enhance your professional skillset by exploring grid-tied, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. With the skills you develop in this course will be able to design a PV system and understand the applicable permitting requirements and associated drawings. You will have a solid understanding of PV technological principles and knowledge of equipment commonly used in PV systems. You will also have obtained practical, hands-on experience installing and handling solar PV equipment

Although this course is intended for Electricians, Electrical Inspectors or Engineers, others who have a basic understanding of electrical theory and a solid familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code are welcome to enroll. Students should be prepared to complete two assessments on the course material. Multiple optional review quizzes and worksheets will also be available throughout the course to practice.

  • Remote On-Demand Delivery: Where: Online anytime. When: No set class meetings. Coursework is accessed on-demand and online. While there are no set class meetings, there may be set due dates and deadlines for some activities. Students may interact with peers through virtual tools.
  • Remote Independent: Where: Online anytime. When: No set class meetings. Coursework is accessed on-demand and online, with no instructor support. While students choose when to do coursework, there may be set due dates and deadlines. 
  • Work Placement: Where: In-person meetings. When: Work is scheduled at a specific time for students to attend. Onsite work integrated learning. Location at a worksite.
