Course Overview

Use Local Area Networks to design, document, troubleshoot, and monitor your IT networks. Participants in this course will be able to design and build a LAN and together with an 802.11 wireless network. Apply troubleshooting strategies to resolve network issues and discover the impact of additional network services and devices on performance. Implement TCP/IP IPv6 addressing, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and Network Address Translation NAT. Explore differing techniques used for network documentation.

With the skills you gain this course, you will be able to design and plan local area and wireless networks.

Prior to enrolling in this course, it is recommended that you complete CCTM170 Network Fundamentals or an equivalent course or have related practical experience.

  • Remote Independent: Where: Online anytime. When: No set class meetings. Coursework is accessed on-demand and online, with no instructor support. While students choose when to do coursework, there may be set due dates and deadlines. 
  • Work Placement: Where: In-person meetings. When: Work is scheduled at a specific time for students to attend. Onsite work integrated learning. Location at a worksite.
