Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to describe and implement fundamental water and wastewater operator skills to protect public safety and ensure efficient operations of water and wastewater treatment systems. This course is approved by the Government of Alberta as Mandatory Entry Level Training requirement for level 1 water and wastewater certification.

Graduates of the course will be able to comply with water and wastewater regulations and relevant legislation, describe public safety and environmental protection strategies, and identify documentation and record requirements. Certified operators in Alberta can take many different paths to become certified and there is no one specific course or training that you can take to become certified. There are five levels of certification with each level of certification having different education, training, experience, and examination requirements.
Information on each level of certification can be found in the Government of Alberta Water and Wastewater Operator Certification Guidelines website. If you choose to write the certification exam you must qualify and apply to Alberta Ministry of Environment and Parks prior to the certification exam application
