Just off Chinatown's main drag, Edgar Gutierrez's (Cook '05) Kanto 98st. brings Filipino flavours to Edmonton's growing collection of restaurants focused on street food from away. Staff are eager to explain items that might be unfamiliar, and serve them fresh and piping hot. Dishes focus on barbecue, rice bowls and chicken, and steamed bao bun stuffed with pork, chicken or beef. Finish with halo-halo, a sweet, cool Filipino treat.
