  • Degree - NAIT offers a number of business degrees and applied science and technology degrees accredited by Alberta Advanced Education.
    Applied degree programs offer a stronger emphasis on practical applications of the concepts learned in the classroom
  • Diplomas & Certificates - These credit programs take 1 or 2 years and lead to government approved and industry-recognized credentials.
  • Journeyman Certificate - Hands-on and expert-led apprenticeship and industry training for skilled trades and technology professionals.
  • Continuing Education/Non-Credit - NAIT offers a wide range of non-credit programs and courses for personal and professional development in a number of interesting and exciting fields. These options are great for people who may be working but are interested in studying as well.

Delivery Options

The flexible schedule options for this course including time of day and full/part-time.

  • Day - Courses taking place between Monday - Friday, before 5 PM.
  • Evening/Weekend - Courses taking place on weekdays from 5 PM or later, or Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Online - Sometimes called "Home Study" or "Computer-Based Learning"
  • Blended - A combination of online and in-class components.
  • Distance - Traditional correspondence format. These courses work best if you can't get to a campus or if your schedule can't accommodate fixed class times

Have you been surveying career options? These continuing education courses related to geomatics engineering could uncover your path to success! From fundamental survey calculations and basic total station to survey law, cadastral studies, land information systems and more, NAIT’s Advanced Surveying Certificate courses will help launch you into the wide world of geomatics or add to your surveying skill set.

This series of courses provides foundational knowledge and skills to get you started in the industry as well as the credit courses required to be eligible to write a Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS) exam.

Due to the advanced nature of these courses, we recommend you come in with sound knowledge of map projections, geodesy, coordinate systems and geo-informatics, or extensive work experience in geomatics engineering. Ideally, you have already graduated from a Geomatics Engineering Technology diploma or Geomatics Engineering degree program.

These geomatics engineering courses are an excellent means of increasing professional development and overall employability. Numerous sectors are seeking personnel with geomatics training, including engineering firms, legal surveying firms, utility companies, energy resource development firms, and all levels of government.

Become a trusted professional

Students who successfully complete five of the six available Advanced Surveying courses are eligible to receive a NAIT Certificate of Achievement. 

If you are pursuing a CBEPS certification, you should know that CBEPS establishes, assesses and certifies the academic qualifications of individuals who apply to become land surveyors and/or geomatics professionals in Canada. 

Some NAIT Advanced Surveying courses are recognized by CBEPS as exemptions for their examinations. 
You must achieve a minimum 60% passing grade on eligible NAIT course in order to earn an CBEPS exemption.
